Sector Based Work Academies

Sector-based Work Academy Programmes (SWAPs) are an opportunity for employers to recruit individuals specifically trained in the skills and qualifications their business needs.

We work with local Job Centres to support local unemployed people to learn new skills in a different area of work where there are jobs, such as adult care, childcare, construction, digital and warehousing.

This means we can create a customised package that covers the skills and qualifications you need in your business, so you get ready trained applicants for your vacancies.

What are SWAPs?

SWAPs are short programmes, lasting between two and six weeks and have three main components:

  • Pre-employment training covering the skills and qualifications you need in your job applicants
  • Work experience with you, to make sure participants are right for your business
  • And at the end of the programme, you can interview those who meet the requirements for your vacancies

As the employer you are in control throughout – you only employ those individuals who meet your needs.

There is no direct cost to you, as training and administration costs are covered by Government funding. To find out more speak to one of our Business Advisors.
