Logistics & Warehousing
Typical jobs include Supply Chain Managers, Stock Control Assistants, Drivers and Warehouse Workers and Managers.
For example Supply Chain Managers organise the movement of goods and materials from suppliers and manufacturers to customers. Stock control assistants keep track of stock levels and make sure there are enough supplies to meet customer demand.
Large goods vehicle (LGV) and heavy goods vehicle (HGV) lorry drivers transport and deliver goods between suppliers and customers. Warehouse workers take delivery of goods and pack orders for dispatch.
Your day to day tasks will vary dependant on your job role. If you're a Warehouse Worker, you will typically:
- Take delivery of goods and raw materials
- Check for damaged or missing items
- Move stock around the warehouse using lifting equipment
- Make sure stock is stored correctly and safely
- Pack and wrap goods
- Load goods ready for dispatch
- Clean the warehouse
Your training will usually be a mix of one to one sessions at your workplace, group work and online resources.
