Upskill Your Staff
Investing in your workforce's professional development is a vital ingredient for growing your business and retaining staff.
Getting, developing and keeping the right people is always a challenge, no more so, that in the current climate
Trying to recruit new staff with the right skills is expensive and an ongoing challenge, so investing in your existing employees becomes even more critical.
As the labour market becomes ever more competitive, retaining a skilled, motivated team is key to achieving positive results.
Studies show that staff who feel valued, are more than twice as likely to remain with your company and pursue their career within your business. And helping them develop new skills, sends a clear message that they’re important to the company.
This means more stability for your business and higher staff retention, saving you time and money.
The CIPD Report
The Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD) report Labour Market Outlook Winter 2021-22 shows 46% of employers have hard to fill vacancies, especially in Healthcare, Public Service and the Construction Sectors.
Whilst many employers are having to increase pay to attract and retain staff, this is not the only option.
Employers are looking beyond just pay to deal with staffing challenges by advertising more jobs as flexible and focusing on upskilling existing staff. They are also looking to improve employee wellbeing. Flexibility can open employment opportunities to people who might not otherwise consider roles and upskilling current staff can reduce the need to recruit externally.
Upskilling is a key part of this. Almost of half of employers are choosing to develop their existing workforce as their first option to address their skills needs, rather than always relying on costly external recruitment.
